Factors To Consider Before Purchasing A New Laptop

Though smartphones are the order of the day, as they have a lot of interesting upgrades, it's still limited in a lot of ways and there are built in facilities found in a laptop that aren't on a smartphone. This being said you may be willing to purchase a laptop. But before you do that, there are several things you should consider before going for it » Be it Mac » or Windows  Laptop.

No one wants a good looking designed system or one that has a very high hard drive space that hangs for hours.
But to avoid such Faith Here are some factors you should consider before buying a Laptop:

>THE SPEED

Most individuals focus on the hard drive space, because they plan on storing photos, songs, games, movies etc. on their new device.

But shall it profit you if you have a lots of space, but have to wait for several hours before an application loads?

The trick is if you want your device to be fast, you have to buy a fast storage.

Anything from 7200rpm (Revolution Per Minute) will do.

>THE RAM

Don’t buy a Laptop » runs with a ram size below 4Gb.

If you happen to be a serious photo/ video editor or a gamer who wants lots of fast RAM then make sure you buy a PC with a 64-bit processor and Windows 7 64-bit.

Without getting too technical, the 32- bit version of Windows can’t use more than 4GB of system memory (actually less, thanks to graphics) so you need a 64-bit system if you plan to buy more than 4GB of system memory.

                                          PROCESSORS
Say NO to Intel Pentium processors, gone are the days when they were the best money could buy.

We are now in the Intel Core series era, you should try the second generation series… Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7.

THE KEYBOARDS / TOUCH PADS

Although processors, RAM and the hard drive speed makes a big difference in the performance of a laptop, however these two output devices are something you will be using throughout the existence of the device.

The best laptop keyboards are the ones with firm support underneath the entire keyboard structure. Considering that you might be need to type in a low light or dark room, you should buy a laptop with LED-Backlit keyboards

The best touchpads have excellent sensitivity and minimal lag so the cursor on the screen moves precisely along with your fingertip on the touchpad. Larger touchpads are generally a good thing (particularly if you plan on using multi-touch gestures on the touchpad surface).

USB Type-C Charging

Everyone loves USB, the ubiquitous connector that charges your phone and tablet, writes data to your flash drive and even connects you to helpful docking stations. USB Type-C is a new standard that can carry data and electricity over a single wire, allowing you to power your laptop, output video or copy files with just one standard cable.

Not all laptops that have USB Type-C can charge off of it, but those that do will be able to take advantage of an entire ecosystem of standardized AC adapters, docks and monitors. Better still, all USB Type-C cables are reversible, which means that you never have to worry about plugging them in upside down.

Higher-Resolution Screens

In the past few years, most laptops came with 1366 x 768 resolution screens, even if you paid good money for them. At this rotten resolution, not only are pictures grainier, but not a lot of text fits on the screen, forcing you to scroll a long way to read Web pages or edit documents.

Today, you can find an affordable system with a 1920 x 1080 or higher resolution screen that will let you see more of your work at once while you're viewing movies the way they were meant to be seen.

For example, the Lenovo Ideapad 300S is available with a full-HD option for just $529. If you're willing to spend more, you can even find laptops with 4K ultra-HD displays that output at a ridiculous 3840 x 2160. The 4K configuration of the Dell XPS 15 starts at $1,799.

Windows 10 Preloaded

Windows 8/8.1 was such a user-unfriendly operating system that many consumers avoided buying PCs because of it. However, with Windows 10, Microsoft's operating system is back on top, with speedy boot and wake times, an improved Start menu, a new ecosystem of universal apps and the ability to switch seamlessly between mouse-friendly desktop and touch-friendly tablet modes.

While you can upgrade any Windows 7 or 8 PC to Windows 10 for free, it's much easier to buy a laptop that comes with the new platform preloaded.

All this are but a few guidelines, the bulk of the work rests on your ability to discern good from bad. I'll also strongly advice you go with an expert in the field when you want to make a purchase. Enjoy.
