Skype Will No Longer Support Windows Phone 8 Or Older Versions Of Android

In what is now a trend among most Apps, Skype is set to drop support for Windows Phone 8 or older versions of Android as the VOIP services continues to evolve. Microsoft has also released a new Preview for Windows 10 Mobile as well as an updated Skype Preview for Windows 10 PCs. The new build brings new additions to the platform including the ability to make group video calls with the ability to add 25 members to the group video call. In addition, users will have the ability to during calls share in an instant photos, emoticons and emojis. Users will have the ability to quick reply to Skype messages with no need to open Skype.

Skype will also later on bring new features to Windows 10 mobile such as SMS relay, which will allow users to send SMS from a Windows 10 PC or Windows 10 phone, giving you the ability to send and receive texts, group messages, and photos all in one app, as well as a single view. According to Verge, Microsoft will continue to support Skype on iOS 8, Android 4.03, and Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft has been pushing Skype to transition from a mere peer to peer service and embrace a cloud based service. This has seen the addition of interesting features to the service such as collaboration tools including file sharing, screen sharing and translation for audio and video calls.
