Nokia 7 and Nokia 6 (2018) Started Receiving Android 8.0 Oreo Update

HMD Global is now seeding the latest Android 8.0 Oreo to two of its latest smartphones- the Nokia 6 (2018) and the Nokia 7. The company is now rolling out the update in China as both the devices are exclusive to the Chinese market at the moment. HMD confirmed the roll out in the Chinese microblogging portal Weibo. The Nokia 6 (2018) was released just a few days ago, and only one sale has happened until now, while the Nokia 7 was launched back in October 2017.

When HMD announced the Nokia 6 (2018) in the first week of 2018, everyone was disappointed as the phone was said to be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Just after the first sale, the phone has received Android Oreo update, which is a good thing. Already it was rumoured that the phone would receive the update right after the first boot, and thankfully, HMD released the update officially.

Talking about the Nokia 7, it’s one of the best mid-range smartphone available right now. Released back in October 2017, the phone arrived with Android 7.0 Nougat, but now, the Android 8.0 Oreo is hitting the users. Being exclusive to the Chinese market has allowed HMD to push the update at the earliest.

Both the smartphones may be launched in other markets after the MWC 2018 event. HMD has already released stable Android Oreo update to its flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8. And the beta testing is going on for mid-range smartphones such as the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.

So far, HMD is doing a great job in terms of rolling out software updates. However, we should also consider that the company’s product portfolio is very small, and it will be interesting to see the update roll out in 2018 because the company is expected to announce more than six smartphones this year.

The Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3, and Nokia 2 are confirmed to release Oreo update very soon. HMD Global will be releasing a few other smartphones such as Nokia 9, Nokia 8 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 4, and Nokia 1 this year.
